Can you tell us a bit about your everyday work at Embriq?
A typical working week for me involves product development and service development. I work with the guys I’m responsible for and I hold meetings with them. I’m also keen on being able to guide and help them move forward. Working with people is something I really appreciate. I like to build bridges between different people. Whether it’s in-house, or externally with customers. I’m usually in one, two or three customer meetings a week.

What do you like most about your job?
I get to help create change, which is crucial if we as a company are to succeed. Change happens so fast, and we as a business always have to keep up and adapt to today’s market. I also like to get others to work well. In other words, I enjoy success when others are successful. I don’t feel any need to be seen.

I also think it’s incredibly exciting to be able to work with talented people. They have so much expertise which we have not yet been able to show to our customers. I want to focus on this in the future; it really is very interesting. Working at Embriq also gives me an opportunity to exercise leadership and be a good role model.

Why did you choose Embriq?
It all started in 1998. To cut a long story short, I started my career creating communication services based on fibre, which was then all the rage. In addition, we would run underground fibre networks out to the subscribers. I was hired early on to create value-added services. We also created internet access points and had just started operating servers. We received support from several companies and had a room with servers that we operated for the customers. This was the start of what is now Embriq, and we actually established a data room in what is currently the Embriq office in Halden. That room is still here, by the way. So when I started “again” in 2022, I finally came home. So I’m on familiar territory, in other words!

I also think Embriq has an exciting profile when you work as a consultant. At Embriq, you look after the entire cycle, i.e. you are on the inside producing and operating stuff, as well as managing what we have established. I’ve missed that all these years. When you are in the consulting industry, it is hours that count, and not many people think about managing the customer to the same degree. I would drop by Embriq now and then, and a job opportunity came up when I talked to René. It was an easy decision.

Do you have any workplace memories that you particularly cherish?
The best thing that has happened has to be that I now have the opportunity to lead Hybrid Management, which is close to my heart.

If you were stuck in a lift, who would you want to be stuck there with and why?
It might well have to be René. Then we could reminisce about all the good times around the year 2000. He’s a good leader whom I can talk to, which is really important to me. He is sincere in his intentions and has no hidden agenda. This is what I appreciate most when working with others.

Do you also want to be part of the amazing team at Embriq?
There is always room for more talented colleagues who want to help us achieve our vision: Making data key to understanding value creation. Embriq offers you great potential for personal growth: we are an innovative company keen to support our employees’ professional ambitions by promoting their development.
