Portrett Magnus - Sales Director

A great curiosity about people and a fascination about what can be achieved together was a natural starting point for sales from early on in his working life – after studying economics and marketing. This, in combination with a keen interest in digitalisation, has been a ‘perfect match’ in Magnus’s previous roles in the SaaS industry.

Now his focus is moving from fintech to energy, and we have been lucky enough to get him to join Embriq as sales director in Services & Software in Sweden!

Can you tell us a little about your job at Embriq?
As I’ve only been in my role for a few weeks, my main focus is familiarising myself with all the systems and services we provide and develop, what our customers’ lives look like and getting to know all my wonderful colleagues.

I lead the team that is responsible for ensuring that companies in the Swedish market realise the value of the benefits they can get by using systems from our Quant platform. An important part of this work is to develop relationships with existing customers and create conditions for meeting many new ones – something I’m really looking forward to!

Why did you choose Embriq?
Already at the first presentation, I was impressed by the development behind the services Embriq offers. I understand that it’s important to be one step ahead in an industry that is so vital in our times. The knowledge that makes this possible appeals to me.

That I also get to represent an industry that affects everyone – energy – and our environment makes the work feel extra meaningful and important.

What do you think is the coolest technology trend right now?
Artificial intelligence (AI) has fascinated me for a long time. I like the fact that the technology can be seen as a way of getting our computers/systems to behave like human intelligence by thinking logically in a way that previously was unique to living beings. AI is already a natural part of many of the services that Embriq develops and provides.

What is your favourite gadget?
My mobile phone is, of course, the tech gadget that I use most frequently. Even more so when it becomes a technical ‘hub’ in the home. I have just installed smart lighting throughout the house, which directly increased the importance of the mobile phone as switches no longer became so vital.

What is the best book you have ever read?
Oh, that’s a difficult question. I have a social science background and was surprised at how interesting I found A Brief History of Almost Everything by Bill Bryson. A book where you get answers to lots of exciting questions about what really happened between the Big Bang and the rise of civilisation. Far from social science, I can promise. Otherwise, I like to read biographies of entrepreneurs, athletes and musicians when I’m on holiday.

Do you have a favourite television series that you would recommend to others?
Unfortunately, I’m useless at watching television. I’m far too restless. This means that I ‘zone out’ as soon as the topic come up and anyone starts to discuss series. I watch the news and over the past year I’ve also watched some programmes about house building/renovation as this has been a part of my everyday life. But who knows, by the autumn it may be time to give a recommended series a second chance.
