In a time marked by electrification, changing customer needs, local production, and increased pressure on the distribution grid, it is more important than ever for utilities—including Jämtkraft—to gain better insight into how their grid is being used. Jämtkraft also sees an increasing need for automated data collection, digitalized processes, and simplified forecasting to enable faster and more informed decision-making in an increasingly dynamic environment.
This marked the starting point for Jämtkraft’s “Digital Twin” project, which evaluated various market solutions and served as the foundation for discussions and the subsequent procurement—where Embriq presented the winning concept.
“This agreement represents a significant step in our digitalization journey. With the help of Quant Insight, we hope to gain a better understanding of the health of our grid, identify key patterns, and improve the basis for our decision-making,” says Jonas Olsson, Project Manager at Jämtkraft.
Reducing Grid Overload with Quant Insight
The overarching goal of the collaboration is to utilize both personnel and infrastructure resources more efficiently. Another key ambition is to use better insights to prevent grid overloads, thereby reducing disruptions and outages.
Jämtkraft will use the platform across multiple departments to enhance cross-functional collaboration—all with the ultimate goal of improving service delivery to end customers.
Embriq, with its strong expertise in digitalizing grid operations, delivers similar services to more than 20 grid companies across Sweden and Norway. The company notes a growing number of utilities are recognizing similar opportunities and are eager to realize the potential of increased digitalization.
“We’re extremely pleased that Jämtkraft is taking this development step together with us at Embriq. This strengthens our already solid partnership and allows us to focus on the digital transformation that is now critical across the industry. We will provide Jämtkraft with a solution that enables them to operate more efficiently,” says Carl Norelid, CEO of Embriq AB.
