“I like working as a consultant because I get to solve technical challenges, making everyday life easier for many people,” says Aleksander Gjermundsen.

What is your typical working week like?
Aleksander Gjermundsen is a DevOps developer and has worked at Embriq since September 2017. He says that his daily tasks have changed over the years, but he still has projects at Statnett.

“I guess everyone says this, but a typical working week is very varied. It differs from week to week how much time I spend sitting at a computer, giving the task at hand my full concentration, and how much of the work is coordination and meetings. There’s still some coding, although that’s not the main part of the work anymore.”

Roy Ove Lie joined Embriq in 2012 and works as a team architect. He explains that his work week involves meetings, discussing solutions, and collaborating with other teams.

“A typical work week and workday involve solution description, reviewing what my coworkers have done, and a little occasional coding. I think it’s fun to be able to see connections at a higher level; when you code you have to go into detail, but as an architect you get to see how everything interconnects.

What’s the most fun thing about your job?

“The people in the office have fun at work. It’s always nice to work there an overhear my colleagues’ funny comments. And it’s really easy to join the conversation,” says Sanja Gagovic with a smile.

Sanja earned a Bachelor’s degree in IT Consulting at the University of Sarajevo. She works as a senior consultant at Embriq and has been with us for almost two years.

“My job is really interesting. Integration demands more than just development skills; you also have to understand the whole flow and how other systems are set up. It’s not just about technology. You have to understand business logic and how other systems are set up – you have to understand everything, really. That’s a lot of fun, because you can ask why things are this way or that way,” says Sanja.

Ove Arntzen is a test manager and holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. He has worked at Embriq for over 10 years and says that the most enjoyable part of his job is how much it varies from day to day.

“I get to manage a lot of my time myself. I think it’s fun to uncover errors before they reach production.”

What makes Embriq a great place to work?
All four consultants say that they like the professional evenings that are arranged once a month.

“It’s really nice that we can meet at professional evenings. We get to watch presentations on various topics, which is very interesting. Then we go out to dinner afterwards, which is a nice social thing to do,” says Roy Ove.

Aleksander, Ove and Sanja all say they like that Embriq is not too large a consulting company.

“Embriq isn’s too big, and I like that a lot. There’s not much of a hierarchy, so it’s easy to get ahold of your manager when you need to ask a question,” says Sanja.

Ove says he thinks the work environment at Embriq is great and diverse, and that his colleagues are competent.
